1 Information We Collect

We collect two categories of information:

Information you provide directly:

  • The Facebook profile URL, username, or numeric ID you submit into the lookup form.

Information collected automatically:

  • Log data — your IP address, browser type, operating system, referring URL, pages visited, and timestamps. This data is collected by our web server and third-party analytics tools.
  • Cookies & similar technologies — small data files placed on your device by us and our advertising and analytics partners (see Section 3).
  • Device data — screen resolution, language preference, and time zone, collected via Google Analytics.

We do not collect your name, email address, phone number, or any account credentials unless you contact us directly.

2 How We Use Information

We use the information we collect for the following purposes:

  • To operate the Service and return Facebook UID lookup results.
  • To cache lookup results and reduce redundant requests to Facebook's servers.
  • To analyse usage patterns and improve the performance and usability of the Site.
  • To serve and measure advertising through Google AdSense.
  • To detect and prevent abuse, fraud, or automated scraping.
  • To comply with applicable legal obligations.

We do not use the Facebook inputs you submit to build profiles, infer identities, or share your lookups with third parties for marketing purposes.

3 Cookies & Tracking Technologies

We use cookies and similar tracking technologies on the Site. Below is a summary of the cookies in use:

Cookie / Service Purpose Type Duration
_ga, _gid Google Analytics — distinguish users and sessions Analytics 2 years / 24 hrs
_gat Google Analytics — throttle request rate Analytics 1 minute
Google AdSense cookies Serve and measure personalised ads Advertising Up to 13 months
Google Ads (AW-*) Conversion tracking for Google Ads Advertising 90 days
Server-side cache files Cache UID lookup results to improve speed Functional 24 hours

Managing cookies: You can disable or delete cookies through your browser settings. Note that disabling cookies may affect the display of advertisements and certain analytics features. For instructions, refer to your browser's help documentation.

4 Google AdSense & Advertising

We use Google AdSense, operated by Google LLC, to display advertisements on the Site. Google AdSense uses cookies and device identifiers to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites.

Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to our Site and/or other websites on the Internet. This is known as interest-based advertising.

You have the following controls over personalised advertising:

  • Opt out of personalised ads via Google Ad Settings.
  • Opt out of third-party vendor personalised advertising via aboutads.info (NAI) or youronlinechoices.com (EU).

For more information on how Google collects and uses data, please review How Google uses data when you use our partners' sites or apps.

We comply with the Google AdSense Programme Policies. We do not place ads on pages with prohibited content and we do not implement misleading ad placements.

5 Google Analytics

We use Google Analytics to understand how visitors interact with the Site — including pages viewed, time on site, and traffic sources. This data is collected in aggregate and does not directly identify you.

Google Analytics may set cookies on your browser (see Section 3). Data collected is transmitted to and stored on Google servers. Google may transfer this data to third parties where required by law or where such third parties process the data on Google's behalf.

You can opt out of Google Analytics tracking by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.

6 Facebook & Third-Party Data

When you submit a Facebook profile URL, username, or ID, our server makes a request to Facebook's publicly accessible pages to retrieve the associated numeric User ID. This process is equivalent to visiting a public Facebook profile in a browser.

We do not store the input you submitted beyond a short-lived server-side cache (up to 24 hours) used solely to reduce redundant requests. We do not link your lookup inputs to your identity, IP address, or any other personal data.

We are not affiliated with Meta Platforms, Inc. Facebook and the Facebook logo are registered trademarks of Meta Platforms, Inc. Their data practices are governed by Facebook's Privacy Policy.

7 Data Sharing & Disclosure

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties. We may share information only in the following limited circumstances:

  • Service providers — third-party vendors (e.g., hosting providers, CDN, analytics) who process data on our behalf and are bound by contractual confidentiality obligations.
  • Advertising partners — Google LLC, for the purpose of serving and measuring ads as described in Section 4.
  • Legal obligations — if required to do so by law, court order, or governmental authority, or to protect our rights, property, or the safety of our users.
  • Business transfers — in the event of a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, personal data may be transferred as part of that transaction.

8 Data Retention

We retain data only for as long as necessary to fulfil the purposes described in this Policy:

  • Server logs — retained for up to 30 days for security and abuse-prevention purposes, then automatically deleted.
  • UID cache files — stored server-side for a maximum of 24 hours, after which they are automatically purged.
  • Analytics data — retained by Google Analytics per Google's standard data retention settings (default 26 months).
  • Advertising data — retained by Google per their standard policies.

9 Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have the following rights regarding your personal data:

  • Access — the right to request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
  • Rectification — the right to request correction of inaccurate data.
  • Erasure — the right to request deletion of your personal data ("right to be forgotten").
  • Objection — the right to object to processing of your data for direct marketing or legitimate interest purposes.
  • Restriction — the right to request that we restrict processing of your data in certain circumstances.
  • Portability — the right to receive your data in a structured, machine-readable format.
  • Withdraw consent — the right to withdraw consent at any time where processing is based on consent.

Because we collect very limited personal data and do not maintain user accounts, many of these rights may have limited practical application. To exercise any right, please contact us via the address in Section 13.

California residents (CCPA/CPRA): You have the right to know what personal information is collected, to delete it, to opt out of its sale (we do not sell data), and to non-discrimination for exercising these rights.

EEA / UK residents (GDPR / UK GDPR): Our legal basis for processing is legitimate interest (operating and improving the Service) and consent (advertising cookies). You have the right to lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority.

10 Children's Privacy

The Service is not directed to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has submitted personal information to us, please contact us immediately and we will take steps to delete such information.

11 Security

We implement reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect the information we collect against unauthorised access, disclosure, alteration, or destruction. These measures include HTTPS encryption, server-side access controls, and regular security reviews.

No method of transmission over the Internet or electronic storage is 100% secure. While we strive to use commercially acceptable means to protect your information, we cannot guarantee absolute security.

12 Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, the Service, or applicable law. We will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Your continued use of the Service after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the revised Policy. We encourage you to review this page periodically.
